Last Wednesday, Fox Run Winery welcomed various members of the hospitality industry to sample their new wine tasting experience.  Bob and I have been waiting for the wineries to combine everything into one – and offer a complete experience – similar to what we experienced in Napa last year. Fox Run has gone above and beyond.

Guests were welcomed by Fox Run’s Tasting Room Manager, Kyle Pallischeck.  This extremely personalized experience began with a 45 minute walking tour of their beautiful  vineyards and winery overlooking magnificent Seneca Lake. It was a glorious mild June day and I cannot think of a place I would rather have been than out in the vineyards on such a beautiful day. Kyle told us about the history of Fox Run Vineyards, and wine making in the Finger Lakes, and many interesting facts about the wines they produce. She encouraged participants to ask questions which made it a nice relaxing interchange – and very informative.

We then moved into the winery itself with all the huge vats and barrels where the winemaking process at Fox Run was discussed.  Following this elaborate tour, we were shown into the historic barrel  room with a long table set for a light lunch  featuring a selection of local cheeses, charcuterie, greens and fresh baked bread, all made in New York State and most in the Finger Lakes. Lunch was accompanied by a flight of six Fox Run wines: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semi-Dry Riesling, Chardonnay, and a Rose of Lemberger. I have not been a fan of Rose but I may become one.  A lovely dessert wine, Hedonia, was served with a delicious biscotti.

We were told that when our bed and breakfast guests experience this wine tasting offered to the public on Fridays at 11:30 PM, they will receive a souvenir glass with the Fox Run Logo.  Reservations must be made at least one week in advance.  The cost is $35 per person and you can order this package at Sunrise Landing and we will take care of the details. Let us know when you make your reservation or whenever you decide on it, as long as it is a week before the date that you would like to go. They can only accommodate 40 on any given Friday, so let us know as soon as possible. Gift certificates for the experience are also available and we can arrange that as well.
